Thursday 2nd April 2020

Good morning year 2

It’s nearly the Easter holidays!

You could try making some Easter nests

You will need:

Equipment

a plastic bowl, a wooden spoon, teaspoons, weighing scales, 12 cupcake cases, a baking tray, a microwave, a fridge

Ingredients

  • 200g chocolate, broken into chunks
  • 100g cornflakes
  • A bag of mini eggs

  Method

  1. Place 12 cupcake cases into a baking tray.
  2. Next, carefully weigh out the ingredients using a set of scales.
  3. Put the chocolate into a bowl. Make sure you use a plastic bowl as it needs to go into the microwave.
  4. Put the cornflakes in another large bowl.
  5. Melt the chocolate in the microwave. Make sure you let it cool a little before pouring over the cornflakes.
  6. Stir the ingredients together gently using a wooden spoon.
  7. Use a small spoon to put the mixture into the cupcake cases.
  8. Decorate with small eggs so that it looks like a nest.
  9. Put in the fridge until it has set.

Here are some Easter word problems for you to try.

What is the question asking you to do?

Do you need to + , - , x  or ÷ ?

Miss Forrest bought 52 baskets, but Mrs Bata took 45. How many baskets does Miss Forrest have left?

Mrs Masani had 6 Easter baskets. In each basket there were

5 little chicks. How many chicks were there altogether?

Miss Brittle had 24 chocolate eggs, she shared them between

Miss Forrest, Mrs Bata and herself. How many did each person get?

If each chick has 2 arms, how many arms do 12 chicks have?

There are 10 chocolate eggs in a pack, if Mrs Bata wants to

buy 60 eggs altogether, how many packs should she buy?

Miss Forrest has 47 Easter eggs. Mrs Bata has 72. How many more does Mrs Bata have?
