Week Beginning 31st January 2022

Year 5 remote learning week beginning 31st January 2022

Hi Year 5,

Here is your remote learning for this week if you are isolating - remember, you don't have to complete any work at home if you feel poorly! Make sure your grown ups let the school office know if you are isolating. Mrs Large will check in with them via e-mail as soon as possible to check you are all ok, and to help you with your remote learning if needs be.

Some of this week’s lessons have worksheets. If you have a printer and can print the sheets that’s great, but please don’t worry if you can’t. Answer as best you can on normal paper, or a blank BGfL document. Even just talking through the answers with a grown up is really beneficial!

Please follow the link and complete one lesson per day. (If you were isolating last week and have already started this series of lessons then that’s absolutely fine – please just pick up where you left off):

This week you will be completing some revision on fractions. Please follow the link and complete one lesson per day, starting at lesson 1 (you are not expected to complete all of the lessons):

(If you were isolating last week and have already completed some of the lessons, please just begin wherever you left off.)

Topic, SPag, Computing and Spanish (choose one lesson per day)

The Islamic Golden Age (2 lessons)

  1. Learning about Islamic Art

Look through the Presentation saved below (scroll down) entitled ‘Introduction to Islamic Art’. Can you make a short fact file detailing the new things you have learned about Islamic Art?

  1. Drawing your own Islamic Art

Look through the PPT saved below (scroll down) entitled ‘How to draw an Islamic geometric repeating pattern’ – it will give you a step by step guide so you can have a go at creating your own Islamic Art!

Here is a lesson is about modal verbs (with some helpful revision of other parts of speech too)

Please watch the video. When the teacher in the video asks a question, pause the video and write your response to the question (on paper or on J2e5) before resuming the video.

If you have watched the whole video and found it very tricky, try writing some sentences using these model verbs instead:

Please scroll down to the video on this link:

It is the first video in this series about the SMART rules for staying safe online – the ‘S’ rule. Watch the video and pause at the questions to see if you can answer them. Then show us what you’ve learned (make poster, write an information text, show your understanding via a cartoon... up to you!)

If you were isolating last week and have already watched the first one, please watch the second one – the ‘M’ rule: / and show what you have learned!

Please scroll down to go through the PPT and then answer the worksheets

Remember, there are lots more great remote learning resources on the school website here:
