I know that staff are feeling a real mix of emotions at the moment. Many are very tired and looking forward to a break with their families. They have worked so hard, trying to teach and support the St John's family in a way that they have never had to before. There is also a sadness though that we have missed out on life with everyone and that some experiences are lost. Staff feel especially sorry for the Year 6 children who are moving on to secondary school without having the huge send off which they deserve. 

I don't want to put on lots of goodbye and farewell music to make you cry so instead,I want you to listen from some absolutely brilliant songs from Matilda the musical. It is based on the story by Roald Dahl but the music and lyrics are written by Tim Minchin. He has a great sense of humour and the words in the songs are superb.

When I grow up 

I'm not in anyway suggesting that any of Year 6 have been revolting or too naughty for us, but these songs are so energetic and full of hope. I want our leavers to remember what a great journey St John's has taken them on and this is just the foundation for 'when you grow up'. Wherever you go, and what ever you become, a little bit of you will always have been shaped by St John's. Take that thought with you as you start your next adventure.
