Denmark - Electro pop 4.7.21

A musical tour of Europe to celebrate the UEFA EURO 2020.

This week we are travelling to Denmark who England will be playing against in the semi-finals on Wednesday! Denmark has a strong culture of music from folk music, classical, opera, jazz, pop, rock and electronic music.

Denmark is split into 5 areas and within these there are a total of 98 municipalities (like our council areas). Music is so important that a law came into power in 2008 that each of the 98 areas had to have its own music school.  Music is seen as important part of Danish life and there will be music at large family events such as weddings, birthdays and anniversaries. Often guests will write songs and use traditional music as inspiration.

Over the past few years, the Danish music scene has grown and there are Danish pop artists, punk groups, electronic producers and rock groups who are starting to make their mark internationally.

Kasper Bjørke is a Danish record producer, DJ and remixer who composes electronic music. You can find him performing a dj set at some of the most popular venues in New York, London, Copenhagen, Paris and other countries all over the world.

Karen Marie Aagaard Ørsted Andersen (known as MØ) is an electro-pop artist who has performed songs with Iggy Azalea, Major Lazer and Justin Bieber.
