Gershwin - Porgy & Bess 'Summertime' 19.6.23
Summertime - this song is from an opera called ‘Porgy and Bess’ written by George Gershwin. Gershwin was an American composer (1898 – 1937) who wrote both jazz and classical music.
‘Summertime’ is considered one of the finest songs he ever wrote and is a jazz standard (this means lots of jazz singers perform it which makes it really well known).
Here are three really different versions. One is sung by Ella Fitzgerald. She is one of the most famous jazz singers of her time. The second version is by Paul McCartney who was in the Beatles. The last one is a more modern version which is performed by Lana Del Ray.
