"Use your God-given gifts to serve others." 1 Peter 4: 10
Monday 15th March
This Friday is Red Nose Day. This is a day when we show compassion for others: we think about how others don't have the same opportunities, help and support as us. People all round the country are joining in so when we raise money for Red Nose Day, we are part of something bigger. We are making the world a better place.
Today's song is an inspirational song by the American singer songwriter Carole King. It talks about how you can be a friend to all - reach out, and show compassion and people will know 'You got a friend'. When we raise money, we are being friends to others even though we haven't even met them.
Here is a link to the official audio track as well as a live version of Carole singing. If you look on youtube, lots of people have covered this song. I've also included a version by Sara Bareilles - if you look, Carole King is watching and applauding her. Next week, look out for another song by Sara.
When you're down and troubled
And you need some love and care
And nothing, nothing is going right
Close your eyes and think of me
And soon I will be there
To brighten up even your darkest night
You just call out my name
And you know wherever I am
I'll come running, to see you again
Winter, spring, summer or fall
All you have to do is call
And I'll be there
You've got a friend
