Louis Daniel Armstrong was born in 1901 in New Orleans (where jazz was invented). He was an American trumpeter and vocalist and is one of the most influential figures in jazz. He has a really distinctive gravelly voice. You might recognise if from one of his famous songs ‘what a wonderful world’.
