Spem in alium nunquam habui, (Latin: “In No Other Is My Hope”) motet by thomas Tallis, which has 40 different voice parts singing. It probably dates from the late 1560s to the early 1570s.Tallis served under the Tudor monarchs from Henry VIII to Elizabeth 1 until his death in 1585. He may have produced Spem in alium nunquam habui, which is considered his single greatest achievement, for Elizabeth I.
Song for Athene: written by John Taverner (1944-2013) is also an acapella choral piece but for 4 parts. It was sung at the funeral to Princess Diana.
