"Use your God-given gifts to serve others." 1 Peter 4: 10
At St John's, we have two teams who serve our school through ensuring that our Collective worships are effective and that our Values are lived out everyday, both in and out of school.
Our Values Team is made up of representatives from across the school. They considered the job specification and made applications to Mrs Hedges for the role. As well as having an ability to carry out certain tasks, they were chosen for showing that they:
Understood the school values and lived them out every day (being a good role model)
Wanted to make a difference to the Spiritual life of St John's
Here are some of the things which the job involves:
Meeting with staff to talk about what is good about Collective Worship and what we could make better
Asking the class to do tasks based on our values
Leading parts of class and Year group Collective worships: setting the table, reading a prayer, saying the welcome and sending out.
They may also choose songs, writing prayers, making powerpoints or finding things we can put on the school website or add into our school newsletters
Evaluating Collective Worship – reflecting on them or asking the class to tell us what they thought
Our Collective worship Crew also had to apply for their post and needed to show that they had the technical skill, ability to work under pressure and could be successful in a team. It isn't an easy job!
They set and clear the hall every Collective worship, making sure the Holy Table is set, the chairs are out and all of the tech works. They are then responsible for running all of the Powerpoints, videos and songs.
