Week Beginning 28th February 2022

Year 5 remote learning week beginning 28th February 2022

Hi Year 5,

We hope you had a lovely half term!

Here is your remote learning for this week if you are isolating - remember, you don't have to complete any work at home if you feel poorly! Make sure your grown ups let the school office know if you are isolating. Mrs Large will check in with them via e-mail as soon as possible to check you are all ok, and to help you with your remote learning if needs be.

You can complete your learning on paper (to either take into school when you return, or to photograph and upload onto BGfL/Teams), or you can use a blank BGfL document.

English

To fit in with your new topic of ‘Earth Explorers’, your English lessons will be based around an animal that lives in mountainous regions – wild cats! Please follow the link and complete one lesson per day. https://classroom.thenational.academy/units/wild-cats-non-chronological-reports-702c

Maths

This week you will be completing some revision on fractions. Please follow the link and complete one lesson per day, starting at lesson 1 (you are not expected to complete all of the lessons): https://classroom.thenational.academy/units/fractions-and-decimals-be3a

Topic, Computing

Please choose one of the following lessons to complete each day

Topic (Geography)

Here are some Geography lessons based on Mountains, to fit in with your ‘Earth Explorers’ Topic. Please complete one lesson per day: https://classroom.thenational.academy/units/mountains-volcanoes-and-earthquakes-e02a

If you feel like completing something a bit more creative, try this:

Information posters (This will class as 2-3 lessons depending on how detailed your poster is):

Can you learn all these facts from the Earth Explorers knowledge organiser (scroll down) and then choose a section (or two, or three) to make an information poster about?

It will need to be eye catching, interesting and easy for the reader to understand. Think about your use of:

Titles

Subheadings

Bullet points

Colour

Text boxes

Pictures

Computing

Please scroll down to the video on this link: https://www.childnet.com/resources/video-lessons/the-s-rule

It is the first video in this series about the SMART rules for staying safe online – the ‘S’ rule. Watch the video and pause at the questions to see if you can answer them. Then show us what you’ve learned (make poster, write an information text, show your understanding via a cartoon... up to you!)

If you have already watched the first one, please watch the second one – the ‘M’ rule: https://www.childnet.com/resources/video-lessons/the-m-rule / and show what you have learned!

Remember, there are lots more great remote learning resources on the school website here: https://www.st-johns-pri.bham.sch.uk/whole-school-online-resources/
