David Bowie
David Robert Jones (8 January 1947 – 10 January 2016) is known as David Bowie . He was an English singer-songwriter and actor.
Bowie loved Elvis and used to pretend to sing and move like him when performing to his friends. He also played the ukelele and tea-chest bass and performed in skiffle sessions with friends.
He received a serious injury at school in 1962 when his friend punched him in the left eye during a fight over a girl. After a series of operations, and four months in hospital, it could not be repaired. This means Bowie looks like his eyes are diffeent colous and this became one of Bowie's most recognisable features
Bowie's album The Rise and Fall of Ziggy Stardust and the Spiders from Mars was released in 1972. It is one of his best-known albums. As a result of his performance, Bowie became a leader of glam rock.
Ziggy Stardust became Bowie's alter ego. For a press-conference, he would show up as Ziggy.
