This week is our last week of home learning (hopefully). We will continue to focus on adverts and then there are some activities for World Book Day!
To design a healthy snack
In this lesson, we will think about the snacks we eat and why we like them. We will look at an advert advertising an unhealthy snack, then think about healthy alternatives. Then, we will think of our own healthy snack and write a persuasive sentence about the snack we have designed.
Go to BGFL, shared files, click on your class folder and click on the file called Mon Design a Healthy Snack for your task. Remember to save your work. https://www.j2e.com/st-johns-cofe-primary-school5/Mrs+W+SMITH/Mon+Design+healthy+snack/
To practise and apply knowledge of suffixes: More -er and -est
In this lesson, we will be further practising and applying knowledge of the rules used when adding the suffix -er and -est.
Go to BGFL, shared files, click on your class folder and click on the file called Tues er est spellings for your task. Remember to save your work. https://www.j2e.com/st-johns-cofe-primary-school5/Mrs+W+SMITH/Tues+er+est+spellings/
To build persuasive vocabulary to use in our advert
In this lesson, you will recap comparatives and superlatives. They will find alliteration, rhyme, adjectives and slogans. You will write your own slogans for your healthy snack.

World Book Day
KS2 (years 3,4,5 and 6) SHOW: (1.30-2.15pm on Wed 3rd March) is suitable for KS2 (ages 7-11)
We recommend watching the show live but if you miss it will be available on catch up until 12pm on Wed 10th March. To access the show on catch up you still need to register for the event.
Once on the website, you will need to click on ‘Book Now’ on the relevant show. You will then get a link to the event sent to your email.
You might notice that the book has no illustrations so can you design your own front cover to the story or you could choose to illustrate a part from the story. Go to BGFL, shared files, your class folder and click on the file called BWGD template for a template.
World Book Day ‘Spudtacular’ Competition
On Thursday 4th March, we launched our ‘Spudtacular’ Competition. Can you make a book character or book scenes out of potatoes- yes, potatoes! Here are some examples:
|You can take a photograph of your potato characters/scenes and send it on Teams or BGFL.|
Related to that we thought we should also publicise the library app at https://www.overdrive.com/apps/libby/ which allows you to borrow eBooks and audiobooks from your local public library for FREE!
