"Use your God-given gifts to serve others." 1 Peter 4: 10
"Sleigh Ride" is a light orchestral piece composed by Leroy Anderson in 1948. Listen out for horse clip-clopping, and a whip used to get the horse moving. In most performances, a percussionist provides these sounds on temple blocks and a slapstick. Toward the end of the piece, a trumpet imitates the sound of a horse whinnying.
In 1963,
The Ronettes recorded a cover of "Sleigh Ride" which had lyrics to it. It was a very popular version of the song in America.
Here is also version by jazz singer Ella Fitzgerald.
All three pieces are the same piece of music but performed in different styles. Which do you prefer?
