"Use your God-given gifts to serve others." 1 Peter 4: 10
Dear parents and children,
Good morning! It is Monday morning again so it is time our whole school virtual singing. I have found some more songs that you can join in with at home if you want to. I hope you enjoyed last week’s songs and had a go at joining in with some of the VE day ones. Some of you were really inspired as we have received some great entries for our competition. Take a look at them here VE day competition entries. The closing date is Friday 15th May, so if children (and parents) still want to enter, send them in to enquiry@st-johns-pri.bham.sch.uk
Here are some of our favourite songs that you can sing along to this week:
When it's a sunny day We have been so lucky with the weather on lockdown. This song reminds us that even if it is not a sunny day (or we are not in a ‘sunny’ mood), we still have a lot to be happy about in life.
This little light of mine Remember, we all have God given gifts – let them shine!
Here are some new songs to have a go at:
Join the song This is another really catchy song. It has lots of challenges in to get you moving. Good luck!
The best day of my life At school we have been learning different Makaton signs. This is a song you may know – it is by a pop/rock band called American Authors. If you really like a challenge, see if you can learn the song and all of the signing too.
Music to listen to
On Saturday it should have been the Eurovision Song contest. This year it was due to be held in the Netherlands in the city of Rotterdam. Unfortunately, it has had to be cancelled so here is some music from past winners to mark the occasion. If you are in in years 4, 5 and 6, you will have studied this music when you did your Sweden topic. Here are some songs from ABBA. They won the competition in 1974 with their performance of ‘Waterloo’.

Collective worship
Look out for the Collective worship later this afternoon. Everyone that has received a golden sticker this week will get their virtual golden high five and I will also do birthdays so, if it is your birthday this week, you can help me blow out the birthday candle.
God is good...all the time,
Take care,
Mrs Hedges
