Artist: Erland Sibuea
Erland was born and lived in North Sumatra, Indonesia. He was a self taught artist and loved art so much that he founded the Balinese Chinese Arts Association (BCAA). He worked with other Balinese artists to help him develop his skills as he didn’t go to art college or have any formal training.
He said that he was found inspiration for his art in the radiance of God’s hope. Radiance means something is glowing which can be through light, or love of joy. Does this feel like a happy picture of Joseph, Mary and the baby Jesus? How has the artist painted it that way? (Look at the colours and use of shapes and objects).
