"Use your God-given gifts to serve others." 1 Peter 4: 10
Dear Parents/ Carers,
Earlier today, the Local Authority sent the following advice to schools:
"The government has issued new advice on travel and socialising, including minimising travel into and out of the area (Birmingham) and not taking unnecessary journeys. Dr Varney says that due to Birmingham being an area of enhanced support travel should be minimised to essential trips only.
If you have trips arranged outside of the Birmingham boundary, we would suggest you rearrange these to locations within the city if possible. All trips will need a robust risk assessment and follow strict safety measures."
Having seen this, I rang the Local Authority to discuss our visit to Drayton Manor, and they explained that this would need to be cancelled.
I am really sorry about this because I know that the children (and staff) will be hugely disappointed. Once again, the pandemic has spoilt our plans. However, there is some good news too.
Firstly, we will be able to refund your money in full. The office staff will get to work on this on Monday morning, and they will contact you to let you know what the arrangements are.
Secondly, the year 6 staff are already working on an alternative plan. They are determined that the children will have a day of fun before the end of term. I will send out more details when things are confirmed.
Please reassure your children that we will not let Covid spoil the end of their last year at St John's. We might not be able to go to Drayton Manor, but that doesn't mean we won't be able to celebrate their time with us and have a good time.
Have a good weekend,
Best wishes,
Mrs Seymour
