St John's C of E Primary School

"Use your God-given gifts to serve others." 1 Peter 4: 10

Welcome back

Dear parents and carers,

We are looking forward to welcoming your child back to school on Tuesday 18th April. Doors will open at 8.40am and the second bell, to say school has started, will go off at 8.50am.

This half term we are focusing on the theme of 'becoming the best version of yourself'. Over the next few weeks, the children will be set different challenges to try and achieve. Look out for stickers and certificates coming your child's way if they achieve the goal.

At St. John’s School we have a uniform which we are proud of. Visitors to school often comment on how smart our children are. So our first challenge is: can you be one of the smartest St John's superstars?

Your child needs to make sure they come to school each day wearing the correct school uniform. I'll attach the list again so that you can check off that you have everything. If you are having any problems with uniform then come and speak to us and we can help.

We have chosen to have a uniform for two reasons:

- It gives children a sense of belonging to something and helps us to feel equal.

- It stops children worrying about what they are going to wear or competing to wear the latest logo or most expensive trainers.

We want our children to be the best version of themselves which means taking pride in how they look and how they present themselves. We would like you to help your children achieve this goal but we also want them to be independent. Try to encourage your child to find their uniform and have it prepared and ready for the next day. Being a parent is hard enough without trying to find ties for each child at 8.30am!

Can you also check that your child isn't wearing any jewellery in school. It can easily cause injury or get lost especially during PE or playtime. Children who have pierced ears should only wear studs - no hooped earrings please. Anything worn for religious reasons must be removed or covered for PE.

I hope that you have all had a restful holiday and look forward to seeing you all on Tuesday.

Best wishes,

Mrs Hedges
