Proposed strike days July

You may be aware from media coverage that the NEU (National Education Union) have declared strike action, which is due to take place on Wednesday 5th July and Friday 7th July. The strike has been declared because of a national dispute between the union and the government over teachers' pay.

I’m getting in touch to give you as much notice as possible that learning may be disrupted on these days. We are working closely with our staff union representative to keep up to date with the situation, and I will inform you of the final arrangements as soon as possible.

The teachers at St John's are a hard working and dedicated team. They will not take a decision to strike lightly and will not get paid for these days. They want the best for your children and for the future education of your children. I know that this will cause potential disruption to your child's education, and I am sorry if that week will be hard for you to manage.

We recommend that you start to make alternative childcare arrangements for these dates in case your child's class is not open.

I will keep you updated nearer the time. Thank you for your understanding with this,

Best wishes,

Mrs Hedges
