Poppy Appeal

6th Nov 2020

Dear Parents

Collective Worship

Today, Mrs Seymour led the children in a virtual Collective Worship about Remembrance Sunday, which is this Sunday, and Remembrance Day, which is on Wednesday. We are now putting all of our Collective Worship presentations on the website under the 'About us' tab so you can access everything remotely. Here is the link to today's worship:https://www.st-johns-pri.bham.sch.uk/remembrance-day/

Poppy Appeal

Usually at St John's, we support the British Legion by selling lots of poppy merchandise at school. This year, we have been unable to do that but would still like to show our support.

The British Legion are launching a campaign called Every Poppy Counts. We would like children to make their own poppies and bring in a donation to wear their poppy or have their poppy displayed at school and on the website. We ask for donations of 20p - although you are welcome to donate more if you would like.

Poppy ideas

Here are some ideas for what you could do:

  • Download the poster from the British Legion and decorate it. You can colour it, paint it, stick things on it. We know how creative you can all be. You can find the attachment on this email or on the British Legion website: Poppy poster
  • Make a badge to wear - you could cut one out, sew one, knit one, make one out of origami!
  • Make a 3D model to display.

You can bring/ wear your poppies to school all of next week or, display them at home and send a photo of your poppy to enquiry@st-johns-pri.bham.sch.uk. We will try to get photos of all of the poppies onto the school website for you to enjoy.

Music

We are still having a weekly music link. This month we are listening to music of 'War and Remembrance'. Keep visiting the music page under the 'Children' tab to enjoy the wide range of music. This week it is Gorecki 'Symphony of Sorrowful Songs'

I hope that you are all keeping safe and well,

Best wishes,

Mrs Hedges
