Black History Day
Dear Parents,
Wednesday is Black History Day but we are doing it differently this year.
The Black Lives Matter movement has brought publicity to the fact that racism and prejudice still exist. At St John's we teach children to treat others as they would like to be treated. We teach them that we are all different, and all equal. We are taking the opportunity on Wednesday to teach children to challenge stereotypes and to educate them about some less well-known events and people from history.
We hope that children will learn that no matter what colour, race or religion somebody is, they are equal under the law and deserve our respect.
Children will need to come to school wearing their school uniform (or their PE kit if it is their PE day).
