"Use your God-given gifts to serve others." 1 Peter 4: 10
Sports days
We've had another busy week. This one has spent dodging the showers for sports days. Years 5&6 and 1&2 had really successful mornings competing in teams and showing off all sorts of impressive skills. Thanks to all of those parents who came to support - some of you really got into the spirit of it, joining in the team chants and cheering them on! It is so lovely when the family of St John's can get together and share in an experience.
Sports days next week -
Year 3 & 4: Monday 26th June 9am - 10.30am
Reception: Tuesday 27th 2pm - 3pm
Eid
I know that many of you will be celebrating this week and I would like to wish you a joyful Eid from all of the staff at St John's School. For those celebrating, your child will be given an authorised absence for 1 day. School will be open all week as normal for all children.
Mehndi
One of our Learning support assistants is a Mehndi artist and has volunteered her talent to raise money for school funds. She is going to be available for short sessions in the day and after school on Monday and Tuesday for children to have a small design on the back of one hand. If your child would like this, it will cost £1. Years 3 - 6 will need to bring their money in to school with them.
The ingredients used are: Cajput powder, lavender oil, eucalyptus oil and sugar & water sealant.
St John's Church
Our links with the church are really important to us. We are a church school, sitting in the heart of Sparkhill, whose purpose is to serve the families and community surrounding us. You may have heard the children talk about Reverend Toby or Sebrina. Revd Toby Crowe is the vicar of St John's church and Revd Sebrina Blackstock Miller is the curate. They regularly come into school on a Monday to lead Collective Worship with our children. If you want to know what they look like so you recognise them around school or around Sparkhill, here is a link to the St John's Church page. If you do see them, say hello and introduce yourself!

On Tuesday 18th July we will be holding a celebration collective worship at St John's church for all children. We will send more information out nearer the time but keep the date free if you would like to come and join us. It will be held at 9am.
Wishing you all a lovely weekend,
