"Use your God-given gifts to serve others." 1 Peter 4: 10
The 8th May 2025 marks the 80th anniversary of the end of the Second World War. This is called VE day (Victory in Europe Day). Over this half term, we will listen to music inspired by VE day.
Beethoven's Fifth Symphony
Beethoven's fifth symphony is a very famous piece of classical music. It was written over 200 years ago and when people hear the first four notes, they recognise it instantly!
In the second world war, it became a powerful piece of music for the Allied forces. The rhythmic pattern of the first 4 notes matches the Morse code letter for ‘V’. The symbol ‘V’ for Victory was a symbol of the war effort made famous by Sir Winston Churchill who was Prime Minister at the time.
