  • Week 19 'Making changes' 2.2.26 Beyonce

Beyoncé Giselle Knowles-Carter (born September 4, 1981) is an American singer, songwriter, record producer, dancer, and actress. She was the lead singer of the all-girl R&B group Destiny's Child and then in 2003 released music as a solo artist.  She has released 5 albums all of which have hit singles on them. She is married to rapper JAY-Z and has a daughter named Blue Ivy Carter and twins Sir and Rumi Carter.

In 2011, she performed the song ‘I was here’ at the United Nations humanitarian day. It is a really powerful song telling us to take action. Don't just think about doing things to only make yourself happy, try and make a difference to the lives of others.

I just want them to know
That I gave my all, did my best
    Brought someone some happiness
Left this world a little better just because
    I was here

I was here, I lived, I loved, I was here
I did, I've done, everything that I wanted
And it was more than I thought it would be
I wanna leave my mark so everyone will know

    I was here.
