Welcome to St John's Church of England Primary School

St John's School is a special place. It sits in the centre of the community in Sparkhill park, a place of warmth and welcome, where all are invited to be part of the St John's family. We believe that our school was placed here for a reason: to serve. Our Christian value of service is rooted in theological understanding, for Jesus said, “I am among you as one who serves” (Luke 22:27). Jesus did not serve those who looked like him, or spoke like him, or lived like he did - he served everyone. Our school is here to serve the needs of all children, parents, staff and the wider community. You will see this through our inclusive approach, engaging bespoke curriculum, dedication to our support and nurture and the strength of the relationships that we build with those around us. 

We encourage our children to 'shine like lights' and we see our school as a beacon of light for all. We often tell our children that we are:

That is because we believe that every child is made in the image of God and is unique. It is our responsibility to help them find their gifts and the confidence to shine so that they can become the best version of themselves.

We encourage every child to grow academically, socially, emotionally and spiritually. We have an exciting curriculum and we aim for children to leave us with a love of learning and the ability to think and question. As a Church school, we enable children to grow in, and reflect on, their own faith - no matter what that may be - and to respect the beliefs, opinions and lifestyles of others. We want them to grow into people with strong values that will enable them to make their communities better places in which to live and work.

We also want our children to appreciate that they are part of a much wider global community and to open the world up to them. We work with parents, community groups, and governors to give our children the very best start to their education and enrich their lives so that they thrive at St John's. We want our children to take the values of St John's instilled inside them, so they continue to grow and flourish as they start their next journey. Our children are the world’s future and we believe they will make it a good one.
