School Day Timetable

The school day

Timings:

  • Reception to Year 6 - the school day is 8.40 - 3.15.

We open the doors at 8.40. The day starts with Independence Time where teachers and teaching assistants do intervention work and correct things children may have got wrong the previous day. It is a vital part of the day.

The second bell rings at 8.45 am - children must be in school for this bell.

It is important that your child gets to school on time every morning.

  • Nursery:

Nursery has a 10 minute slot where you can drop off and pick up your child. It is very important that you keep to these times and are not late. The staff need time to set up resources for each session. Once a session has started, their priority is looking after the children so that they get the best learning experience.

Morning nursery:

Start time is 8.40 - 8.50 and pick up time is 11.30 - 11.40

Afternoon nursery:

Start time is 12.20 - 12.30 and pick up time is 3.10 -3.20

Entering school:

It is difficult to enter school during the day because we must ensure children are secure. Please enter school using the main Stratford Road entrance. There is a buzzer at the gate. A member of the Office team will ask to see your face in the camera and will ask who you have come to see. This is so that we only let authorized people on site.

Parking:

Please do not park in the staff car park outside the front or back entrance, or on the yellow boxes in front of the barriers. This is requested to ensure maximum safety for all children as ambulances may need entry to the building. We recommend that you park in the public car park at the rear of the school or make arrangements to walk to school.

Breakfast club:

We offer a breakfast club ,for children who are in Reception to Year 6, starting at 8.00 am. Places are limited so see Mrs Clifford Chapman in the school office if you are interested.

The cost is £2 a day, and children can play or have help with their homework from the Breakfast Club staff. If you wish your child to come to the club, but do not require them to eat, the cost is £1.

Unforseen closures:

On rare occasions it is necessary to close the school with very little notice, for example in adverse weather conditions.

The school will notify parents of emergency closures through ParentMail, the school website: www.st-johns- pri.bham.sch.uk and by text. Please make sure the office has your mobile phone number.
