"Use your God-given gifts to serve others." 1 Peter 4: 10

Week Beginning 7th February 2022

Hi Year 3,

Here is your remote learning for this week if you are isolating - remember, you don't have to complete any work at home if you feel poorly! Make sure your grown ups let the school office know if you are isolating. Mrs Large will check in with them via e-mail as soon as possible to check you are all ok, and to help you with your remote learning if needs be.

Some of this week’s lessons have worksheets. If you can print them out that’s great but please don’t worry if you can’t - you can complete the work on paper or a blank BGfL document.

English:

Reading: Complete the comprehension below (scroll down) based on Theseus and the minotaur. (There are 3 in the document – choose the one that you feel is at the level most suitable for you)

Quick writing: Please scroll down to the ‘Myths and Legends quick write’ document below. Choose one or two sheets to complete per day. Allow the awesome pictures to really spark your imagination!

Narrative writing: If you would like something more for writing, then please follow this link for some narrative writing lessons. You can complete one lesson per day (If you have already done some because you were isolating last week, please just continue from where you got to): https://classroom.thenational.academy/units/journey-narrative-writing-21c5. You can do this instead of the Myths and Legends quick writing tasks, or as well as if you wish, but you don’t have to do it all.

Maths

Your class are learning about multiplication and division this week. Have a go one lesson per day from this series. There are lots of lessons here- you don’t need to complete them all. All the tasks are on the videos this week, so there are no worksheets attached. You can just write your answers on paper or on a blank BGfL document: https://classroom.thenational.academy/units/multiplication-and-division-70b8

If you require any more maths learning, here is some revision of concepts you have been learning throughout the year. Please follow the link and complete one lesson per day.

**If you started isolating last week and have already completed some of these revision lessons, please just carry on from where you got to.**

Computing, SPaG and Topic

Please complete one lesson from this section per day

Computing – Safer Internet Day 2022

Tuesday is Safer Internet Day 2022. If a grown up at home feels well enough, they may wish to follow this link and then have a little chat with you about it: https://saferinternet.org.uk/safer-internet-day/safer-internet-day-2022/advice-for-parents-and-carers

Then have a go at this quiz to test your Online Safety knowledge: https://saferinternet.org.uk/safer-internet-day/safer-internet-day-2022/quiz-7-11

SPaG

Your class has been learning about adverbs. Learn more about them here:

Lesson 1: Adverbs: https://www.bbc.co.uk/bitesize/articles/zbn492p

Lesson 2: Now try using some adverbs and adverbial phrases https://www.bbc.co.uk/bitesize/articles/zv73bdm

History

(This will class as at least 2 lessons)

Information posters:

Can you learn all these facts from this knowledge organiser https://primarysite-prod-sorted.s3.amazonaws.com/st-johns-cofe-primary/UploadedDocument/fa3fe5dea6314bac8dd4a5b557dbcc3a/gods-and-heroes.pdf  and then choose a section (or two, or three) to make an information poster about?

It will need to be eye catching, interesting and easy for the reader to understand. Think about your use of:

Titles

Subheadings

Bullet points

Colour

Text boxes

Pictures

If you have been isolating for a while, please choose different sections of the knowledge organiser to focus on this week. You could try making a fact file instead of an information poster this week. The success criteria will be largely the same – but you may prefer to fold it into a little booklet instead of present it as a poster.

Remember, there are lots more great remote learning resources on the school website here: https://www.st-johns-pri.bham.sch.uk/whole-school-online-resources/
