Week Beginning 28th February 2022

Year 1 Remote Learning week beginning 28th February 2022

Hi Year 1,

We hope you had a lovely half term!

Here is your remote learning for this week if you are isolating - remember, you don't have to complete any work at home if you feel poorly! Make sure your grown ups let the school office know if you are isolating. Mrs Large will check in with them via e-mail as soon as possible to check you are all ok, and to help you with your remote learning if needs be.

If you follow this link it will take you to a padlet containing most your work.

(The same padlet was used at this time last year, so please just ignore any references to live sessions, and old comments etc - but feel free to add your own.)

Here are some extra things for you to have a go at based around your class’ current learning:

Topic

Your current topic is still Wild Safari!

Here are some videos for you to watch to help you understand animal habitats (where animals live):

And here are some videos about continents and oceans of the world:

English

Watch a Safari here: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ICc_Nt1zp9k

Imagine you are one of the animals from the video (or any other animal of your choosing!)

Can you describe yourself using an ‘and sentence? Challenge: Can you use the suffixes ‘ed’ and ‘y’ (words that end in ‘ed’ and ‘y’)?

Here are some examples:

I have got a long, grey trunk and big ears.

My wings are pink and feathery.

My legs are thin and my feet are webbed.

My legs are short and my tail is long.

Maths

In Maths this week you will be learning about turns (quarter turns, half turns and three quarter turns) Follow this link for some information and activities:

If you would like some more general counting resources there are some here. You don’t have to do everything! There is a selection for you to choose the activities which suit you best:

Here are some lessons based on counting, and numbers to 50/20:

Have a go at some of the video lessons on this link (you definitely don’t need to do more than one a day): https://classroom.thenational.academy/units/numbers-to-50-fe7e

If that’s too tricky, try some of these lessons based on numbers 0-20 (you definitely don’t need to do more than one a day): https://classroom.thenational.academy/units/numbers-to-20-82de

Here is some more counting practice:

Counting in twos: https://www.bbc.co.uk/bitesize/topics/z8sfr82/articles/zt3xwnb

Counting in fives: https://www.bbc.co.uk/bitesize/topics/z8sfr82/articles/zdhdr2p
