     Mariachi music is the traditional music of Mexico, dating back to about the 18th century. The usual mariachi group today consists of as many as eight violins, two trumpets and at least one guitar and an acoustic bass guitar. All players take turns singing lead and doing backup vocals.

    Mexico is made up of 31 states, each with its own government and capital. Guadalajara is the capital of the state of Jalisco. It is the 8th largest city in Mexico. Mariachi music is closely connected to Guadalajara.
