Tuesday 14th April 2026.
Good morning Year 5,
As you will know by now, school is closed for today (due to a burst water pipe). Please see your learning tasks for today below.
We hope to see you very soon,
The Year 5 Team.
To keep learning going and to help pupils get ready for our exciting new Earth Explorers unit, we have set a few home learning activities.
For English writing, there are three different options for a short piece of writing, and they may pick the one they find most interesting.
For Geography, there are links about mountains below, where they can create an eye-catching fact file using the information they find.
https://www.bbc.co.uk/bitesize/articles/zyhf3j6#zwj6p4j – BBC Bitesize
https://www.thenational.academy/teachers/programmes/geography-primary-ks2/units/mountains-and-volcanoes-what-where-and-why/lessons/mountains-and-their-features#slide-deck – PowerPoint on mountains
For reading, there is a ‘Wildlife’ reading comprehension – they should read the text carefully and then answer the questions that follow on the sheet.
For maths, there is a short pre-unit quiz for our new topic, along with two worksheets revising units we have already learned during the Spring term. Also, they can practice their multiplication on TT Rock Stars
Thank you for your continued support, and we look forward to seeing the children’s fantastic work.
