St John's C of E Primary School

"Use your God-given gifts to serve others." 1 Peter 4: 10

Remembrance Day

Usually at St John's, we support the British Legion by selling lots of poppy merchandise at school. This year, we have been unable to do that but would still like to show our support.

The British Legion are launching a campaign called Every Poppy Counts. We would like children to make their own poppies and bring in a donation to wear their poppy or have their poppy displayed at school.

Poppy ideas

Here are some ideas for what you could do:

  • Download the poster from the British Legion and decorate it. You can colour it, paint it, stick things on it. We know how creative you can all be. You can find the attachment on this email or on the British Legion website: Poppy poster
  • Make a badge to wear - you could cut one out, sew one, knit one, make one out of origami!
  • Make a 3D model to display.

You can bring/ wear your poppies to school all of next week or, display them at home and send a photo of your poppy to enquiry@st-johns-pri.bham.sch.uk. We will try to get photos of all of the poppies onto the school website for you to enjoy.

How to make Remembrance Day Poppy with Origami Paper

Here is a video Mrs Hedges followed to make her poppy - see the photo below to see how it turned out. (She drew on the black bit. She didn't make a pin!)
