Family Support

26.4.23

Dear Parents,

We are pleased to let you know that Citizens Advice are coming into school and will be visiting us on a regular basis. Citizens Advice Birmingham offers advice on a wide range of issues to anyone living in the Birmingham area. Their service is free of charge, confidential, independent and impartial. They won't judge you, persuade you to tell you what you should do - they will listen, explain all the available options to you and support you in the course of action you decide to take.

They offer advice and support with the following.

  • Housing
  • Immigration
  • Other problems
  • Benefits appeals, tribunals
  • Universal credit, help to claim
  • Disability Living Allowance
  • Carers Allowance
  •

The first session will be on Wednesday 3rd May 2023. This will be a drop in session, to speak with an advisor and arrange a further appointment. They will be here on the following dates 10,17,24th May 2023 from 9-3pm operating an appointment system. To arrange an appointment please speak or telephone Mrs O'keefe.

This is a fantastic opportunity to work with a professional from CAB here at school instead of travelling into Birmingham City Centre and having to be seen on a first come first serve basis.

Kind regards

Mrs O'keefe

Helpful Contact Details for Advice & Support

For children to thrive, they need a safe and secure place to live.

In these stressful post-pandemic times, when the cost of living is so high, and pressures on parents are huge, many families are struggling.

We have supported parents and children through:

- bereavement

- debt

- domestic violence

- divorce

- immigration issues

- unemployment

- homelessness

- family breakdown

If you are struggling, this will have an impact on your children. We will always do everything we can to help you in the strictest confidence.

A good place to start is with Mrs O'Keefe, or any of the Senior Leadership Team. You can phone school on 0121 675 1469, or email enquiry@st-johns-pri.bham.sch.uk to ask for an appointment; or you can find one of us outside school at drop-off and pick-up time.
