Day 1 - Monday
What a day we’ve had so far! We had a smooth journey here, arriving at about 11.45.
We took our belongings down to our cabins and put our things in our rooms. Then we went for a site tour and had lunch. This afternoon all three groups have done Orienteering (a bit like a treasure hunt!) and had a go on the Giant Swing. Amira said “It looks a bit scary at first, but it’s so much fun!”. Mr Hudson-Evans was really brave and went all the way to the top with Zane!
This evening we are going to have dinner and then go for a Campfire session and sing lots of songs – we can’t wait!
Day 2 – Tuesday
We had an awesome night last night! The Campfire was so much fun, and we were all ready for bed after a brilliant (but tiring!) day! Everyone had a good nights’ sleep and woke up ready for day 2 - we were all very hungry at breakfast this morning! Luckily for us the food here is great and most children went up for seconds!
Before lunch we did Quad Biking and Rock Climbing. Everyone had a go at the challenges and it was amazing to see how nimble some of the children were – it was like watching Spiderman scaling the climbing wall! They made it look so easy!
After lunch we had a go on the High Ropes – they are really high, but it was great to see and hear everyone encouraging each other. The support and enthusiasm of the children is brilliant! Although some children didn’t want to go all the way round the circuit (it is very high!), everyone had a go and completed the first challenge, which was fantastic.
This afternoon we have also completed the Survivor activity, which is learning survival skills like making shelters and starting a fire in the woods – we have learnt so much and had great fun doing it! There are no photos of these sessions though as the survival skills are top secret!
After dinner this evening we have got Wacky Races – Alex (our PGL group leader) says it’s her favourite activity. We can’t wait!
The weather has been great and it hasn’t rained today! It rained a lot last night, so it's been quite muddy, but that hasn't stopped us from enjoying ourselves. It’s not too cold, so it’s been perfect for our outdoor activities.
I have posted some photos from today, but will upload some more this evening once the children have had dinner - check back for an update!
Day 3 – Tuesday
Good morning from sunny Shrewsbury!
The weather has been lovely this morning, so we’ve really enjoyed being outdoors for the activities.
We had lots of fun last night at Wacky Races – there were lots of silly games and challenges to complete. We were all quite tired by the end of the day though, as we’ve been so busy, so everyone had a good nights’ sleep last night.
After a nice, big breakfast this morning, we completed our final activities. We did Trapeze, where you have to climb up a really tall wooden pole, and then jump off it to catch a trapeze swing! It seemed a bit high at first, but it is so much fun when you jump off it – Mr Hudson-Evans thought it was a brilliant activity.
Our second activity of the day was Problem Solving – we went to the Puzzle Park and had to work in teams to solve all sorts of practical puzzles, it was so much fun!
We are just about to have our lunch before setting off back to school. We have had a brilliant time, and made some amazing memories this week; ones that will be treasured forever.
Looking forward to seeing you all back at school,
Mrs Hudson-Evans, Mr Hudson-Evans, Mrs Iffat, Mrs Shingadia, and the children of 2019 PGL.
